What is tallow useful for?

Tallow is a deeply nourishing, multi-functional fat that closely mimics the structure of human skin. It can be used as:

  • A daily face and body moisturizer
  • A hydrating makeup primer
  • A gentle eye makeup remover
  • Relief for eczema, dry patches, and sensitive skin
  • Diaper rash prevention and treatment
  • Cradle cap care
  • Healing chapped lips and cheeks
  • Nipple balm for breastfeeding mothers
  • Daily moisture for babies and all ages

How do I use the Tallow Balm?

Start with a pea-sized amount and massage into clean skin, face or body.
A little goes a long way.

How should I store my balm?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A medicine cabinet or drawer is ideal.

How long will my balm last?

  • 2 oz: ~2–3 months with daily facial use
  • 4 oz: ~4–5 months with daily facial use

If used for full body or shared across a household, it may go faster.

Why do you dry-render your tallow?

We use a traditional dry-rendering method to preserve the integrity of the fat.
No water. No dilution. Just pure, nutrient-dense tallow with intact fatty acids.

Will tallow clog my pores?

No. Tallow has a low comedogenic rating and closely resembles human sebum, allowing it to absorb easily. It’s also rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which helps calm inflammation and support balanced skin.

Why don’t you whip your balms?

We don’t whip our balms because:

  • Whipping introduces air, which reduces product density
  • It can increase exposure to bacteria
  • Whipped products often deflate over time

We hand-pour every jar to ensure purity, stability, and that you receive the full amount listed.

What is the shelf life?

Up to 12 months when stored properly.

We use jojoba oil, which is highly stable and resists oxidation, along with sunflower-derived vitamin E to naturally extend freshness.

Why do you use jojoba oil?

Jojoba oil is structurally similar to human sebum, making it one of the most skin-compatible oils available.

It is non-comedogenic, rich in vitamin E, and suitable for all skin types—including sensitive and acne-prone skin.

Is tallow safe for babies and facial use?

Yes. Tallow is incredibly gentle and rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

It’s suitable for babies, nursing mothers, and even the most sensitive skin.

Can tallow help with eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis?

Many of our customers have experienced relief.

Tallow contains fatty acids like palmitoleic and stearic acid that help calm irritation, support skin regeneration, and strengthen the skin barrier.

Where do you source your tallow?

We source from regenerative farms in the Hudson Valley.

Our tallow comes from grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture-raised cattle that are ethically cared for. We prioritize farms practicing regenerative agriculture, with some certified organic.

Why does my balm’s texture vary?

Because we produce in small batches using natural ingredients, texture can vary slightly.

Temperature also plays a role. Your balm may feel firmer in cooler conditions and softer in warmer ones. The quality and benefits remain unchanged.

Are your products organic?

We prioritize certified organic and non-GMO ingredients whenever possible.

Our tallow is always sourced from regenerative farms, though not all are certified organic due to the cost barrier for small farms.

Are your products vegan?

Our tallow-based products are not vegan.

However, we do offer vegan formulations. Many customers appreciate our use of tallow as part of a low-waste, regenerative system.

How quickly will I receive my order?

Orders ship within 48 hours, Monday through Friday.
You will receive tracking information as soon as your order is on its way.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the nature of skincare, all sales are final unless your product arrives damaged.

If there is an issue, email us and we will make it right.

Do you test on animals?

Never.
We test on ourselves, our friends, and our families.
