In My Newborn Bubble
Last week, I was deep inside the soft, hazy cocoon of my newborn bubble — nursing, resting, and letting time stretch and collapse in the way only early motherhood can. Those days felt both endless and heartbreakingly brief. My world was quiet but full of milk-drunk sighs, soft skin, and the weight of a tiny body that somehow felt like home.
Friends and family showed up in the most beautiful ways, and I’m endlessly grateful. Still, the real marathon has been toddler wrangling. Wilhelmina kept us on our toes while Leonora dreamed and fed and reminded me what surrender really means.
One night, Wilhelmina looked up at Matt and said, “Daddy, you take the baby from Mommy. Mommy cuddle me.” It was one of those moments that split me right down the middle — where joy, love, and guilt all live side by side. The second time around feels less fragile, more grounded. I’m not as nervous, just more present, but the heart still stretches in impossible directions.
This past weekend tugged at my heart for another reason: it was the Field + Supply Fall Show — the very show that changed everything for us as a brand.
Last October, we were just a four-month-old business with hand-poured balms, a folding table, and a dream that still felt a little too big to say out loud. That day, a buyer from Terrain stopped by, tried our tallow balm, and simply said, “I want to put you in all our stores.”
That moment shifted the ground beneath my feet. It happened before we had screen-printed jars, before we had systems or certainty — just belief, sweat, and hope. Field + Supply gave us that spark, that exposure, and that chance encounter that became a turning point. I’ll never forget it.
This year, I watched from afar — proud, emotional, and full of gratitude. My incredible team, Izadora and Oona, held down our booth, meeting customers and sharing our story with the same warmth and spirit that built this brand. They also represented us at Saturday’s pop-up at C. Cassis Tasting Room, keeping the energy alive and neighborly.
You never know when you’ll meet someone who changes your life, or when a single conversation becomes the thread that weaves your next chapter. That’s the beauty of this community: it’s built on trust, curiosity, and the courage to take a chance on each other.
So while I spent the weekend wrapped in my baby’s sleepy rhythm, my heart was there among the neighbors, the makers, and maybe even the next person who will unknowingly change everything for someone else.
